Introducing Shaun Daniel

Shaun Daniel is a singer-songwriter whose style shies from easy genre classification, though much of his music is anchored in acoustic folk rock, blues, jazz, and Americana. Constantly exploring musical possibilities, Shaun pairs solid guitar-playing and intelligent lyrics with dynamic, multi-octave vocals marked by a bluesy tenor.

Originally from the Columbia Highlands of northeastern Washington State, Shaun developed his sound in the Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon playing in coffeehouses, pubs, warehouses, barns, and festivals throughout the Northwest. Though currently performing as a solo artist, he has been involved in several bands in the past (from jazz to hard rock to reggae) and has shared the bill with such artists as David Ramirez, Finn Riggins, Jared Mees and the Grown Children, Hillfolk Noir, and Sons of Guns.

In 2011, he relocated to Minneapolis to further concentrate on his music and quickly marked a number of successes. 365 Music Project ranked him #8 in the "Top 10 Local Twin Cities Musicians to Watch in 2012." Shaun then headlined a summer festival in his hometown in Washington and showcased in Portland, OR and Minneapolis as part of RAW Natural Born Artists. Because of this latter performance and a growing fan base, he was chosen as one of five nominees for RAW Minneapolis's Musician of the Year. In 2012, Shaun undertook a short tour of the Northwest while WWOOFing on two organic farms before returning to frequent shows again in Minnesota.

Another year and Shaun headed back West in 2013, this time to Salt Lake City, where he took time off from regular performing to pursue a master's degree in Environmental Humanities at the University of Utah. All the while, he continued to write new songs and play surprise shows at houses and campfires and the odd festival or pub. The Great Basin and Wasatch Range were lovely, and Shaun flirted with desert skies and silence, the canyon mysteries of the Colorado Plateau. But longing for the cedars and salmon, rivers and mountains of his native Northwest, Shaun relocated to Eugene, Oregon in early 2017 to work with an environmental education nonprofit and to rekindle the connection between his art and the Cascadian bioregion he loves.

Look for Shaun in the coming months at pubs, wineries, festivals, and farmers markets, or even an impromptu house show. The album "Small Town Live" showcases his music in live, unadulterated form and is available through many digital distributors (Spotify, iTunes, Amazon), by PayPal, or at his shows.
